When Marie receives a Christmas letter from a relative detailing how wonderful her life is and how well her kids are doing, it drives Marie insane with jealousy. Later, when Marie shows Debra the letter, the two join forces to compose a Barone family Christmas letter.
Nikki gets into the Yuletide spirit and prepares her annual Christmas tree-trimming party, but everyone turns her invitations down flat. To lift her spirits, she visits the mall to do her last-minute shopping. When the Santa Claus at the mall suddenly deserts the anxious children waiting to have their pictures taken, Nikki seizes the moment by pretending to be Santa. Just as the mall begins to close, Nikki, Kim, Andell, Stevie, T and Professor Oglevee all end up locked in the department store after being coaxed by a strange man named Walter. Nikki tries to cheer everybody up, but they all seem bothered and grumpy. After a hectic ""Secret Santa"" gift exchange, Nikki becomes upset with everyone's bickering. Realizing how childish they have become, everyone gathers around Nikki and apologize. When the security guard comes to the rescue, Nikki reveals a description of Walter, but it turns out that no one by that name is employed at the mall. The next day, everyone exchanges gifts. Once again Breanna's mother has come over for the holidays. This time she feels sick. Later on Flex's whole family comes over for Christmas, and Breanna's grandma discovers that Nicole is pregnant. Breanna overhears and tells Flex. At first their all happy about it thinking that it's a miracle, but when she takes a pregnancy test she realizes that there's no baby, but Breanna says that there's still a miracle because her parents are together for Christmas.
Stan gives Maya an expensive watch for Christmas. Joan tells her to give it back to him, but she refuses. When Darnell sees the watch, Maya claims it is a gift from Joan, leaving him infuriated. Meanwhile, Vosco finally packs up and leaves for good after Lynn criticizes his Christmas present to her--a dog. William is excited about playing Santa for the office Christmas party, but experiences unexpected problems after getting a stain on the suit.
Big Gene Green and Junior invite Olie and his dad to their planet for a picnic; Olie, Billy, and Polly compete to be the superest bot of them all, each displaying their own individual powers; Olie's dad uses some kind of machine to try to turn on a broken light in the kitchen, only in the process to mix things up.

After Homer and Bart's model rocket damages the church, Mr. Burns makes a deal to commercialize the church in return for paying for the damages. Lisa becomes disgusted at what the church has become, so she decides to find a new religion suitable for her. She eventually converts to Buddhism, causing Marge to fear for Lisa's soul.

When Ashley asks him to stay away for a night and he turns up anyway with Toby, she's had it and decides to break up with him. Meanwhile Emma's dealing with an issue of her own.

When Malcolm and his brothers destroy their Christmas tree ornaments, Lois punishes them by canceling Christmas and moves all the presents into the garage. The only way she will reinstate the holiday is if the boys behave impeccably up to Christmas morning. Her plan works better than expected, and Lois is touched that her family responded so well to her challenge. Meanwhile, the boys decide that Lois could use this tactic for future holidays and retaliate by breaking into the garage and opening up all the presents. Merton noticed that Pleasantville once held a witch trial while fetching the basketball for a game between Tommy, Lori, Merton, Chuck and his friends. A conversation led to Merton saying that he had a girlfriend, and remembered the name of the witch who was burned at the stake. After repeating her name three times, she was released from the tree. Chuck told them that he wanted Merton to bring along his girlfriend to the Factory. Merton had to come up with a plan fast because he did not have a girlfriend but the witch came to the rescue, and she became Merton's girlfriend for a reward for releasing her from the tree. When the girl was getting on Merton's nerves, he had to break up with her, but Lori told Tommy and Merton that the witch had brutally killed her ex-boyfriends because they were trying to break up with her, and that was why she was burned to death.
