Max behaves rudely at the bridal shower, prompting Shayla to confront her in the kitchen. When Max demands to know why she was shut out, Shayla confesses that she was in love with Max. Max announces that she will not attend the wedding, as she feels that their entire frienship was a lie. Khadijah disagrees, pointing out that Shayla hid her true feelings because she was afraid of losing Max's friendship. Max tracks Shayla down at the beauty parlor to apologize. Although she admits that she might have initially overreacted to the news, she wishes that Shayla had given her a chance to rise to the occasion. Kelly invites Tara to stay with her after she finishes her stint in rehab. Tara becomes enraged when Kelly dates Greg, as she wants all of Kelly's attention. Colin's lawyer recommends that he plead guilty in exchange for a short sentence at a minimum security facility. Valerie persuades him to take the deal. Val goads Colin into attending Steve's party, but bristles when he shares a tender moment with Kelly. Donna and David videotape the party for a late-night campus program called C.U. Later.

A woman calls Jake at the house, saying she's his daughter and is getting married. Bailey finds out and stalks Jake. Bailey talks to Lauren and she tells him that her father is always disappearing. Bailey, trying to protect his family, kicks Jake out of the house, which divides the family. Claudia is mad at him for taking away her grandfather. Later Bailey talks to him and asks him not to disappear entirely. Justin and Julia's relationship is getting very complicated. Since her pregnancy, she hasn't been the same and Justin misses her. Kathleen declares on television that she loves Charlie, who makes up a story about getting back with Kristen just to dump her. Kathleen finds out the lie and decides to get back at Charlie, saying that she'll buy the restaurant, which she invested so much.

Claire has been hired by Richard to break up Jake and Jane. She tells Jane that she is having an affair with Jake. Jane fires Claire and breaks up with Jake. Jake rejects a reconciliation attempt by Jo and crawls back to Jane.
